Preparing for the Original Order of the Sacraments?
St. Anthony's parish is undergoing a transition to the original order of the sacraments - Confirmation, Holy Eucharist, and Reconciliation. Several groups will be confirmed during Pentecost, May 20, 2018. Below is an overview of the preparations that children and adults will undergo as they prepare for this wonderful opportunity to be strengthened in the Holy Spirit through the sacrament of Confirmation.
Adults who have not received Confirmation will be required to attend three sessions that will be held during three of the six Sundays of Easter. Adults who have been asked to serve as sponsors, but who have not received Confirmation, have the opportunity to attend these three sessions and can then serve as sponsors to those receiving Confirmation, as appropriate.
Children in second grade
Children in second grade who attend St. Anthony's school are prepared for Holy Eucharist and Confirmation through the school. This is the same for children who attend other Catholic schools. They, too, are prepared for Holy Eucharist and Confirmation through their respective Catholic schools. Children who attend non-Catholic private schools or who attend public schools will continue their preparation for Holy Eucharist and Confirmation through their regular religious education classes on Sundays. Second graders will be the first group to initiate the Restored Order of Sacraments in our Parish at the Pentecost Vigil Mass on Saturday, May 19th at the 5:00 p.m. mass..
Children in third to eighth grade
Children in grades three to eight who attend St. Anthony's school are prepared for Confirmation through the school. Children who attend non-Catholic private schools or who attend public schools will receive Confirmation preparation through their religious education classes on Sundays. Grades three to eight children will receive Confirmation at the 8:30 a.m. Mass on Pentecost Sunday, May 20th. Note: Families who are not parishioners of St Anthony’s require permission by their home parish for their child to receive the sacrament of Confirmation at St Anthony’s.
High school classes
Confirmation Class meets regularly on Sundays and will continue their confirmation preparations as planned. This group of students will be confirmed at the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Pentecost Sunday, May 20th.
