Liturgical Ministries

Ministry of Altar Servers:
Boys and girls who are mature enough and have already received their first Holy Communion.  Duties include assisting the priests and deacons in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, liturgical and spiritual activities.  [email protected]
Altar servers must be trained and mentored.
Altar servers are duly commissioned.
Arts and Environment:
Liturgical celebrations are a celebration of God’s saving deeds.  The liturgical climate should be one of awe, mystery, wonder, thanksgiving, and praise.
We acknowledge that the beautiful is related to the holy and therefore we prepare the liturgical space and place of worship leading to emphasize the holiness of all liturgical celebrations.
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion:
We assist the priests and deacons by distributing the body and blood of our Lord in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Eucharistic Ministers must have received the sacraments of initiation which are Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

  • Lectors:
We proclaim the sacred Word of God at Mass. Lectors must have received the sacraments of initiation which are Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
Lectors are mandated to participate in a basic bible seminar, spiritual formation and other necessary training.

  • Sacristans:
We diligently arrange the liturgical books needed for the celebration of the Mass. We lay out the vestments and sacred vessels that are necessary for the celebrations such as cruets, chalices, ciboria, linens, oils, processional crosses and candles. We take care of all aspects of liturgical celebrations and are trained to understand the intricacies of all liturgical celebrations.  We ensure the observance of silence in the sacristy. (GIRM, no. 105a).

Ushers/Hospitality Greeters:
  • Before Mass begins:
‘E Komo Mai! We are the ministry that welcomes and assist the faithful! Our goal is to create an atmosphere of reverence, hospitality and parishioner comfort in our church. Our mission is to serve, love, and to convey in a Christ-like manner, the spirit of Ohana, welcoming the faithful to Mass in an environment of hospitality.  We are responsible for the distribution of informational handouts and envelopes for treasure collections.  We present visitors to our worshipping community with a shell lei.
  • During the Mass:
We are alert for any situations that would distract from the celebration of the Mass.  We pass the collection baskets, select parishioners to assist and facilitate the offering of the bread and wine during the presentation of the gifts, and count Mass attendance.  We assist the priests, deacons and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion by pointing out those who cannot proceed through the communion line.  We gather the treasure collection bowl and join in the procession for the conclusion of Mass.
  • After the Mass:
After mass, we place the treasure collection into bank deposit bags, following Diocesan guidelines.  We stand by the church doors to distribute the weekly parish bulletin or any other handouts to parishioners. We also straighten up all the chairs, collect trash in the church, put hymnals in their proper places, pick up articles left behind, and raise kneelers to prepare for the next Mass.
  • Music Ministry:
Our primary function is to lead the faithful to a more meaningful and deep liturgical celebration. We invite others in our community to share their talents and gifts in singing and playing instruments.
Music ministers must attend a mandatory training, formation, and mentoring that are provided throughout the year.
